Felted Sculptural Seedpod Workshop - Sunday 4th May 10.30am-5pm
Felted Sculptural Seedpod Workshop - Sunday 4th May 10.30am-5pm
Spend a whole day learning how to felt around a large resist to create a beautifully sculptural seedpod or chrysalis form. You may choose to create a simple form with lots of surface texture, or perhaps sculpt twists and ridges for the more experienced…. you’ll even have the option to integrate a felted cord hanger to suspend a chain of battery lights and transform your pod into an illuminated statement piece. You’ll begin the workshop by rolling a long cord with a leaf or shaped detail at the end, before integrating it around the resist. You’ll then lay out your fibres, incorporating any feature textures, before wetting it down with hot soapy water and beginning the felting process.
Some experience of felting around a resist is preferable. This is a challenging project owing to the size of the resist we’ll be using.
All materials are provided, but please bring an old towel and a bag to transport your pod home. Light refreshments and hot and cold drinks will be available to fuel you through the workshop! This workshop will be taught with a maximum of 4 and minimum of 2 participants.
Workshops will be held in my fabulous new studio at •Nook• Gallery & Studios at 25 Institute Road in Kings Heath, Birmingham B14 7EG. We’re a minute’s walk from the High Street in this busy Birmingham suburb that features lots of independent retailers and cafes. There are 2 car parks on Institute Road, or free parking on the side roads that surround •Nook•.
